Life through the lens

I am originally from California and now reside in the greater Washington, D.C. area, where I have access to many beautiful east coast locations to shoot like the Delaware Coast. I began studying photography and editing in earnest around 2019, applying it to general travel photography, mainly as a way to utilize creative parts of my brain that are suppressed in the course of my "day job," which is as uncreative as one can imagine.

What sets me apart from a lot of other photographers is that I don't dabble in just one genre. I always loved black and white photography, starting with the sleek fashion ads in the 90's. I was  also inspired by monochrome photographers like Michael Kenna along the way. Nothing appeals to my eye more than a well-crafted, compelling black & white image that utilizes light and shadow to great effect. I enjoy learning to shoot a wide range of subjects, and I continue to fine-tune my approach with various editing and shooting techniques, including aerial photography, landscape, portraiture, and video. Drone videography and photography has been a continual learning process - being able to fly the drone smoothly while shooting at the same time.

At an early age, I was fascinated with the arctic and artic explorers, and since my first trip to Iceland, "the North" has felt most at home for me, with its expansive, tranquil beauty, breathtaking landscapes and lower population densities.  I try to convey, in some way, what I feel when I am shooting, and when I am travelling, it is usually a sense of awe, excitement, humility, and joy. I want to get to as many northern locations as possible to document their stunning beauty because they are being transformed, in some cases, rapidly, by climate change as I write this.  

Feel free to shop my store, where most of my work is available for print in various high-quality formats with papers and print styles I have personally tested from my chosen printer.  Most of my prints are best suited for the "metallic" or "fine art" print options, which are both very unique and eye-catching options. I can also fulfill any custom requests.
